Elon Musk has long been known for his eccentricities, such as his desire to establish a human settlement on Mars and his decision to name his newborn child X A-12. Nonetheless, his business acumen has not been hampered by these tendencies. He is one of the world’s wealthiest men as the CEO of Tesla and the founder of Space X and The Boring Company.

Elon Musk possesses Musk announced his intention to sell the majority of his assets in May 2020. In a tweet, he stated, “Almost all of my physical belongings are being sold. Will not own a home.” According to the Wall Street Journal, by 2022, he had sold seven of his homes for $130 million.
So, what does a wealthy tech entrepreneur like Musk do after selling his properties? He packed his belongings and relocated to Austin, Texas, to a home that is unmistakably not what you would expect an eccentric billionaire to own.
Where does he live?

Musk’s newest residence is modest for a man who is one of the world’s wealthiest men. On Twitter, he stated, “My primary residence is a $50,000 home in Boca Chica/Starbase that I lease from SpaceX. But it’s pretty cool.”
There was some uncertainty about where he actually lived. Some sources claimed he was living in an Austin mansion, while others claimed he purchased a $50K pre-fab Boxabl home, which he denied in a tweet. According to the Daily Mail, Musk, 50, owns a home in Boca Chica, Texas, just two miles from the Mexican border, and neighbors confirmed that he lives there at least part-time. The three-bedroom single-story house is not in a random location; it is within walking distance of Space X, which he founded in 2002.
What does the house look like?

According to county records, Musk purchased the property in 2019, along with a nearby empty lot and garage, according to The Daily Mail. The house was previously owned by Richard and Patricia Heaton, who received a generous offer for it.
The ranch-style home sits on a 1580-foot lot and is surrounded by an eight-foot fence that keeps the public out. As a result, his home is known locally as “the compound.” New trees have been planted, and on top of the hose, the billionaire has installed Tesla solar roof tiles. He is also said to have built a SpaceX rocket-themed playhouse and swing (via The Daily Mail).

According to the former owner of the house, “I’ve seen the fence he’s built, but you can see why privacy is important to this guy. I truly hope that whoever is now residing there enjoys it as much as we did.”
