Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Keep are among the popular Workspace apps that Google is improving to provide a better user experience on Android devices with larger displays.

Back in March, Google announced the 12L update for Android 12(Opens in a new window), which aimed to simplify and ease the operation of tablets and foldables. A taskbar was added in version 12L to aid multitaskers in launching and switching between many apps and a new layout for easy viewing. The new features that 12L made possible are currently being incorporated into Google Workspace apps(Opens in a new window).

The ability to drag text or images between two Workspace apps when they are open side by side on your smartphone is at the top of the list of new features. This will make it possible, for instance, to drag information from a Chrome tab and drop it into a Sheets spreadsheet. The same process applies when dragging and dropping Google Drive files into Keep, where links to those files are created automatically.

The ability to open two Google Drive windows simultaneously should make finding and organizing files considerably simpler. Simply pick “Open in new window” from the three-dot menu on a Drive file to bring up the second window to accomplish this.
