Do you need to record exactly what’s on your screen? Apple’s built-in Screen Recording tool can help you capture a screenshot or record a video of your screen activity.

If you want to record video of your iPhone or iPad screen, you don’t even need to download an app. Screen Recording is a feature built into iOS and iPadOS that allows you to record activity on your screen.

You can use this tool to start a screen recording and then take individual screenshots of the video. This makes capturing screen activity on your iPhone or iPad much easier than using a third-party app. Here’s how to use the built-in Screen Recording tool and how to set it up.

You must first add the Screen Recording feature to Control Panel before you can use it. Go to Settings > Control Center on your iPhone or iPad and turn on the Access Within Apps option. Tap Screen Recording in the More Controls section to add it to the Included Controls section, which appears in Control Center.

Now, navigate to the screen you want to record. Swipe up to reveal the Control Center, then tap the circular Screen Recording button. You will then see a countdown before the recording begins.

Do you want to record audio as well? Perhaps you’re narrating what you see while the iPhone or iPad captures the screen. Long-press the record button in Control Center, then tap the Microphone button that appears to toggle video sound on or off.

By default, recordings are saved to your Photos library, but you can change this by long-pressing the record button and selecting a different location from the list. To begin the countdown, tap Start Recording from this window. A red timer icon will appear at the top of your screen.

There’s no need to return to the Control Center once you’ve finished your video. When prompted to stop the screen recording, tap the red icon at the top of the screen. A notification will appear informing you that the recorded video has been saved to your device.
