Several changes and tests have been made to the premium family plan youtube over the years, and it now appears that some users will be paying a little more for the benefits. The Premium Family plan, which has been $17.99 per month for a long time, will now cost $22.99 per month. The same is true for Youtube red family plan (an older version of Premium) users, who will see their monthly fee increase from $14.99 to the same $22.99 as everyone else.
It’s worth noting that this price change only applies to the monthly family plan youtube, which allows up to five people in the same household to use the service for one low monthly fee. For the time being, it doesn’t appear that the Individual plan will be increased in price — YouTube still lists it at $11.99 per month. If you subscribe to YouTube Premium through the App Store, the $22.99 per month will actually be $29.99, according to 9to5Google.
YouTube hasn’t given a specific reason for the price increase; however, the Google Support page mentions “inflation and local tax changes” as potential price adjustments. Furthermore, it does not appear that any new features or functionality are being added to the service. It’s also unclear whether YouTube’s previous experiment of restricting 4K video to Premium memberships will play a role.
What you need to know

This price increase also applies to new Family memberships, so anyone who signs up at this time will be charged the new monthly rate from the start. However, as a new subscriber, you will still receive your first month free before YouTube begins charging you.
YouTube will notify current subscribers via email about 30 days before the new rate takes effect, at which point they will be able to decide whether or not to continue using the service. Some YouTube Red subscribers claim to have been given a much longer window — until April 2023.
If you don’t agree with the price increase for any reason, you can complain to YouTube in the hopes that enough pressure will result in a change or shift. Otherwise, Premium Family members have three options: pay the extra fee, switch to a different plan, or cancel their membership entirely.
