Samsung announced yesterday that it is bringing the Samsung Gaming Hub to its 2022 lineup of smart TVs and monitors to bridge the gap between hardware and software for a better gaming experience. Xbox, NVIDIA GeForce Now, Google Stadia, and Utomik are among the game streaming services available on the hub, as are the apps YouTube and Spotify. Twitch is also now available, and Amazon Luna will be available soon.

The gaming hub is now available on Samsung TVs such as the 2022 Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, and 2022 Smart Monitor Series.

The unofficial Twitch.TV app was removed from Samsung smart TVs in 2019, so this is the first time the official app has appeared on the platform. Amazon’s Luna cloud gaming service has been available on Fire TVs since March, and this collaboration with Samsung could help the young gaming service reach a wider audience.

The most notable new addition is Microsoft’s Xbox TV app, which is currently exclusive to the Samsung Gaming Hub and provides access to Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Smart TVs are becoming a more viable alternative to dedicated gaming hardware, and Samsung is betting that an all-in-one destination for cloud-based and console games will entice gamers who value convenience.

“The Samsung Gaming Hub combines Samsung’s leadership in streaming technology with our experience in creating the industry’s most cutting-edge hardware, removing barriers to entry so people can just play,” said Won-Jin Lee, president and head of Samsung Electronics’ Service Business Team, in a statement. “Through expanding partnerships with leading game streaming services and expert-curated recommendations, players will be able to easily browse and discover games from the most comprehensive selection available, regardless of platform.”

Players who own dedicated game consoles can take advantage of Samsung’s support for passthrough controller inputs with smart TVs, allowing them to use a single controller rather than pairing multiple ones. Customers can then use their existing Bluetooth headsets and controllers across apps and devices.

Users of the Samsung Gaming Hub will also have access to game recommendations, gaming news, and tutorials, just as they would on a dedicated gaming console.
