The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are the latest earbuds from Samsung. The audio device is located at the top of one of Samsung’s product lines. I released the original Buds Pro headphones to compete with Apple’s Airpod Pro earbuds. We price similarly them and have comparable features. According to reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Airpod Pro 2 earbuds will be released in September or October, so this announcement and the release date that follows it give Samsung a chance to punch first.

Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are an updated version of the Galaxy Buds Pro, which debuted earlier this year. The new earbuds should not be confused with the Galaxy Buds 2, which were released several months later. The original Galaxy Buds Pro got a lot of things right, including a long battery life, functional ANC, and, most importantly for a pair of earbuds, very good sound quality. Samsung says the new earbuds will cost $229.99, which is slightly more than the sub-$200 predecessors. So, what are you going to get for the extra $30? Is the upgrade not worth the 15% price increase?
An improvement on a solid product

The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro is a newer version of the Galaxy Buds Pro. The form factor is the most noticeable feature of the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. The “new, compact design” from Samsung is 15% smaller than the original Galaxy Buds. However, the smaller size does not increase the likelihood of losing an earbud, as Samsung claims it has engineered the buds to reduce rotation. The sound is created by combining high-dynamic-range Hi-Fi 24bit Audio, a new coaxial 2-way speaker, and Samsung’s seamless codec. According to the Korean company, the audio technology will make the sounds produced by its new earbuds richer than ever.

Aside from the hardware, the buds will benefit from Samsung’s suite of technologies. This includes the Autoswitch system, which allows users to switch their hearing aids between devices with the tap of a finger, as well as SmartThings Find, which allows you to locate your misplaced devices anywhere in the world. The new earbuds’ color palette is intended to complement Samsung’s new phone lineup, which was also announced today. Graphite, White, and Bora Purple are among the “soft and neutral hues” available.
