Microsoft has previously been known to design and sell limited-edition custom consoles, so another promotional tie-in design isn’t exactly surprising. Microsoft has previously revealed oddities such as Nickelodeon-themed systems decorated as Spongebob Squarepants or Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in 2021. This time, however, we’re in for something a little more… shocking.
A new brand crossover release began this week with a temporary collaboration between Microsoft and Marvel Entertainment, resulting in one of the most outlandish examples of an official custom Xbox Series X we’ve seen to date. One designed to resemble Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, as seen in the upcoming film “Thor: Love and Thunder.”
How will I know if I’m worthy?
The contest’s rules and regulations are posted on Microsoft’s website, and they’re pretty much what you’d expect from something like this. The competition has already begun and will run until Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 11 p.m. ET (8 p.m. PT). Employees or relatives of employees of Microsoft or any of its other companies are automatically disqualified, as are employees or relatives of employees of any of its other companies. The competition is also barred in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, Crimea, and Russia.
Aside from meeting the eligibility requirements, all you have to do is follow the official Microsoft Twitter account and retweet the announcement tweet with a massive Thor/Xbox hashtag. Then relax and wait for the winner to be chosen. Microsoft states in the fine print that the winner will be notified within seven days of the contest’s conclusion. Also, make certain that your Twitter account is not set to “protected” or “private.”
