‘World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic’ arrives on September 26th

On September 26th, World of Warcraft Classic will resume play in the Wrath of the Lich King era, according to a Monday announcement from Blizzard. One of the best expansions in the nearly 20-year history of World of Warcraft is generally regarded as WotLK. Even if other games expanded the game’s mechanics in more intriguing and inventive ways, few had the same emotional resonance as WotLK. For those who adored Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, it was a wonderful experience to land on Northrend’s coastlines, explore the region from a fresh angle, and ultimately battle Arthas as part of the Icecrown Citadel raid.

Blizzard is implementing a new leveling system dubbed Joyous Journeys ahead of the release of the expansion. Players of the Burning Crusade Classic can now toggle a 50% experience bonus by visiting an innkeeper in one of the capital cities of their side. The boost can be used to complete leveling an existing character or to begin leveling a new one. Up to WotLK Classic’s release, the boost will be accessible. When the expansion is released, you won’t need a level 55 character already on a server to create a Death Knight, as was the case with the game’s first release.

Wrath of the Lich King Classic will be bundled with all World of Warcraft subscriptions, so if you wish to resurrect your old guild, you won’t need to buy the expansion separately.
